This author has searched out the Scriptures time and time again concerning the Archangel Michael. These studies have caused me to come to certain conclusions concerning him and his true identity. The following treatise is the result of years of study and thought on the subject.

The name Michael is an English transliteration of a very special Hebrew name. The name Michael is a very popular English name in today’s world. Of course, the abbreviated version is “Mike.” If you possess this name, you are in good company, but it is a tall order to live up to.

All Hebrew names have meaning and this one is no different. The Hebrew version is Miyka’el (pronounced me-kaw-ale'). Generally, most Hebrew to English dictionaries and lexicons will render the meaning of the name as “Who (is) like God?”

Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance reveals that this name is assimilated from three other Hebrew words miy-kiy-el’. Miy is defined as; an interrogative pronoun of persons, who? (occasionally, by a peculiar idiom, of things); also (indefinitely) whoever; often used in oblique construction with prefix or suffix. But what is revealing about this word is the other words into which this word has been translated. They are; any (man), X he, X him, + O that! what, which, who(-m, -se, -soever), + would to God.

Kiy is another interesting part of this magnificent name. It is defined as; a primitive particle (the full form of the prepositional prefix) indicating causal relations of all kinds, antecedent or consequent; (by implication) very widely used as a relative conjunction or adverb (as below); often largely modified by other particles annexed. It’s various translations are also quite revealing; and, + (forasmuch, inasmuch, where-)as, assured(-ly), + but, certainly, doubtless, + else, even, + except, for, how, (because, in, so, than) that, + nevertheless, now, rightly, seeing, since, surely, then, therefore, + (al- )though, + till, truly, + until, when, whether, while, whom, yea, yet.

El’, is defined as; shortened from 352; strength; as adjective, mighty; especially the Almighty (but used also of any deity). It is generally translated as; God (god), X goodly, X great, idol, might(-y one), power, strong.

What we find in this research is that in order for this name to be interrogative, the English word (is) must be supplied, which is what the scholastic world does. Thus, it is generally presented as “Who (is) like God?” However, when we look at the definitions of the words that make up this name we find that the English word “He” can also be supplied with the “Who” in order to make the statement “(He) who (is) like El.” (I don’t like to utilize the word “God” because of its true background. See our article entitled “Taking His Name In Vain.”) However, the word “he” is generally utilized for miy in other places, so we could obtain the meaning “He (is) like El.”

When we substitute some of the other words for the central Hebrew word kiy, we find that more emphatic statements are made, such as, He assuredly (is) El, or He certainly (is) El, or He doubtless is El, or He (is) even El, He rightly (is) El, He surely (is) El, He then (is) El, He therefore is El, He truly (is) El, and He yea (is) El.

Doesn’t it make sense that if someone is like El, then he probably is El? But let’s look deeper into this great being to see what else we can deduct about him.

DANIEL’S ENCOUNTER

Daniel began a fast right after the first new moon of the year, “In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel; Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude,” Dan. 10:1-6.

Wow! What an awesome being! He was so awesome in power and strength that Daniel began trembling and fell flat on his face, “And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground. And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling,” vv. 7-11.

As mighty and powerful as this angelic being was, he had been delayed from completing his mission by the prince of the kingdom of Persia, “Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy Elohim, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days!” vv. 12-13.

The one who came to his aid was Michael, “…but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days,” vv. 13-14.

THE PRINCE

Michael is described here as “one of the chief princes.” The Hebrew renders these terms as echad ha-sarim ha-rishownim. Echad is the Hebrew term for “one.” Sar is the Hebrew term for “prince.” Sarim is simply the plural form. Rishown is also presented in the plural rishown-im.

Rishown is defined as; first, in place, time or rank (as adjective or noun). It has been variously translated as; ancestor, (that were) before(-time), beginning, eldest, first, fore(-father) (-most), former (thing), of old time, past. It was utilized in the fourth verse as “first,” e.g., “And in the four and twentieth day of the first (rishown) month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel…”

Sar is defined as; a head person (of any rank or class). It is generally translated as; captain (that had rule), chief (captain), general, governor, keeper, lord, ((-task- ))master, prince(-ipal), ruler, steward.

He is identified as Daniel’s prince in verse 21, “But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.” He is further identified as the “great prince which stands for the children of Israel in Daniel 12:1, “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people.”

Yahshua Son of Nun had an encounter with a similar being, “And it came to pass, when Yahshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of Yahweh am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my sovereign unto his servant?” Josh. 5:13-14.

The Hebrew word that is translated as “captain” is the same Hebrew word that is translated as “prince” in the book of Daniel. It is the Hebrew word sar!

What did Yahshua Son of Nun do when this being identified himself? He fell down with his face to the ground and worshipped Him! What did this Captain, this Prince then say to him? “And the captain of Yahweh’s host said unto Yahshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Yahshua did so,” verse 15.

This Sar, this Prince, this Captain was so special that His presence caused the ground upon which Yahshua Son of Nun was standing to be HOLY!

MOSES’ ENCOUNTER

The same thing happened to Moses in the day that Yahweh appeared to Him, “Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of Elohim, even to Horeb. And the angel of Yahweh appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when Yahweh saw that he turned aside to see, Elohim called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground,” Ex. 3:1-5.

What made the ground upon which Moses was standing holy? It was the presence of the Angel of Yahweh. This Angel of Yahweh revealed to Moses that He was the Elohim of his forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, “Moreover he said, I am the Elohim of thy father, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon Elohim,” verse 6.

Yahshua Son of Nun did the same thing that Moses did when the being identified Himself as the Prince of Yahweh’s host. Both men fell on their face; Moses, because he was afraid to look upon Elohim and Yahshua to worship Him.

There is an unnatural break between Joshua chapters 5 and 6, which causes the readers to lose track of the fact that the encounter with this Prince, this Commander of Yahweh’s host and what happens next are related. Notice in chapter 5 that Yahshua Son of Nun is by Jericho. Surely, he was contemplating how they were going to overthrow the city. The Sar, the Prince, the Captain of Yahweh’s host appeared to him in order to give him instructions as to how he was to accomplish this feat. Notice the first couple of verses in Joshua chapter 6, “Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. And Yahweh said unto Yahshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.” Here the Scriptures identify this Sar, this Prince, this Captain of Yahweh’s host as Yahweh!

ANGEL/MESSENGER

Both the Hebrew and Greek words and definitions for “angel” reveal that they are messengers. The Hebrew term for “angel” is mal’ak. It is defined as; from an unused root meaning to despatch as a deputy; a messenger; specifically, of [Elohim], i.e. an angel (also a prophet, priest or teacher). (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, Hebrew Lexicon)

The Greek term for “angel” is aggelos. It is defined as; from aggello (probably derived from 71; compare 34) (to bring tidings); a messenger; especially an "angel"; by implication, a pastor. (IBID, Greek Lexicon)

Generally speaking, we look upon angels as spirit beings. This is the primary meaning, but a human priest, prophet, pastor or teacher can also be an angel, specifically, a messenger. Anyone recorded in the Scriptures as a priest, prophet or teacher was an angel. That means that the righteous Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, the high priest Aaron and his sons, Miriam, Yahshua Son of Nun, the prophets of old, etc., were all angels. The prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, etc., etc., were all messengers/angels.

Who appeared to these men giving them their messages? We know that Yahweh Himself appeared to Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, etc.

When Jacob returned to the land from Syria, Esau heard and hastened to meet him with four hundred men. Jacob knew that Esau meant to slay him. He divided his family up into two bands seeking to at least deliver part of his family. But a man met him with whom he wrestled all night. Jacob prevailed over him and when the man desired to be released because the sun was rising, Jacob demanded a blessing. He blessed him also changing his name to Israel, which means “as a prince you have power with Elohim and with men and have prevailed.” (Gen. 32:-28)

Jacob/Israel asked what his name was and he replied, “Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name?” (Gen. 32:29) This would be like someone asking us a question in this age and our answer would be, Why are you asking such a silly question? Jacob/Israel knew who it was because he named the place Peniel, which means I have seen Elohim face to face and my life is preserved.

Later when Jacob/Israel blessed Ephraim and Manasseh he said, “Elohim, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the Elohim which fed me all my life long unto this day, The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth,” Gen. 48:15-16.

In view of these Scriptures, the Angel Who redeemed Jacob would be the same Angel Who is the Prince of Daniel’s people. He is the Redeemer of Israel, He is the Prince of Israel!

It was the Angel of Yahweh, Who revealed Himself as Yahweh that spoke to Moses, beginning the deliverance of the children of Israel out of Egypt. The Prince of Yahweh’s host revealed Himself to Yahshua Son of Nun also as Yahweh giving Yahshua Son of Nun instructions concerning the manner in which Jericho was to be destroyed, beginning the conquest of the land of Canaan. Most of the prophets admitted that the Word of Yahweh came to them, Isa. 38:4, Jer. 1:2, Ez. 1:3, Hos. 1:1, Hag. 1:1, Zech. 1:1, etc., etc.

It was the Word of Yahweh that became flesh and dwelt among us (Jn. 1:1-3, 14). He was Yahshua, the son of man and the son of Elohim, “When Yahshua came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” Mt. 16:13. “The beginning of the evangel of Yahshua the Messiah, the Son of Elohim,” Mk. 1:1.

The Angel of Yahweh and the Word of Yahweh would be one and the same being. They would be the one who was born Yahshua the Messiah of Nazareth.

ARCHANGEL

Michael is revealed to be an Archangel in the book of Jude, “Jude, the servant of Yahshua the Messiah, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by Yahweh the Father, and preserved in Yahshua the Messiah, and called: Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, unrighteous men, turning the grace of our Elohim into lasciviousness, and denying the only Sovereign Yahweh, and our Sovereign Yahshua the Messiah. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that Yahweh, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, Yahweh rebuke thee,” vv. 1-9.

Archangel is a compilation of two Greek words archo and aggelos. Archo is defined as; a primary verb; to be first (in political rank or power). Hey! That’s the same definition for the Hebrew words sar and rishown (chief prince) isn’t it?

Michael is called “the archangel!” Even though there are those who proclaim that there are three archangels, there is no such evidence given in the Scriptures inspired by the Spirit of Yahweh. The Holy Scriptures only reveal one archangel and that is Michael. This title is only found in the New Testament in verse 9 of Jude. As a matter of fact, the word only occurs twice in the whole of the New Testament.

Michael is the first, the chief, the prince in political rank or power over the angels, both heavenly (spirit) and earthly (man).

The only other occurrence of the word “archangel” is found in the book of First Thessalonians chapter four, “For the Sovereign himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of Elohim: and the dead in the Messiah shall rise first…,” v. 16.

The Greek word that has been translated as “voice” is phone (pronounced fo-nay’). It is number 5456 in the Greek Lexicon of Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance and is defined thusly; probably akin to 5316 through the idea of disclosure; a tone (articulate, bestial or artificial); by implication, an address (for any purpose), saying or language. Wow! Do you understand what is being said here? Yahshua is going to descend from heaven with a shout, which is the voice, language, saying, disclosure of the ARCHANGEL!

Number 5316 is the Greek word phaino, which is defined as; prolongation for the base of 5457; to lighten (shine), i.e. show (transitive or intransitive, literal or figurative).

Since phaino is a prolongation for number 5457, let’s see what that word is and its definition. #5457, phos; from an obsolete phao (to shine or make manifest, especially by rays; compare 5316, 5346); luminousness (in the widest application, natural or artificial, abstract or concrete, literal or figurative).

In other words, when Yahshua descends from heaven, he will finally be revealed as the ARCHANGEL, the first and chief messenger. He is the One Who has inspired and given the messages to the messengers of Yahweh from the beginning of time to this very day!

THE CHIEF APOSTLE

Yahshua was sent by the Father to not only do a work but to proclaim messages from Him. He told the people of His day, “I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. They understood not that he spake to them of the Father. Then said Yahshua unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him,” Jn. 8:26-29.

He reminded the people and His disciples of this time and time again, “For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak,” Jn. 12:49-50. “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me,” Jn. 5:30. “Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works,” Jn. 14:10.

While Yahshua was in the world, those who followed Him were called disciples. He had twelve chief disciples who followed Him everywhere He went witnessing to His works and words. In the night that began His agony, He told His disciples, “Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning,” Jn. 15:20-27.

After He was slain and resurrected He sent them out as messengers, “And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved the Messiah to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high,” Lk. 24:44-49.

Just before He ascended into heaven for the last time He told them, “When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Master, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth,” Acts 1:6-8.

From this time His disciples were called “apostles.” The word “apostle” means a delegate; specially, an ambassador of the Gospel; officially a commissioner of the Messiah. (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, Greek lexicon) It comes from another Greek word apostello which is defined as; set apart, i.e. (by implication) to send out (properly, on a mission) literally or figuratively. (IBID) In other words, they were sent out as witnesses and ambassadors of the Messiah with a message of the coming kingdom of heaven.

Yahshua is revealed as an apostle, “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, the Messiah Yahshua; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house,” Heb. 3:1.

Notice that! He is called the High Priest of our profession! There was only one High Priest. Other priests were simply subordinate to the High Priest. If Yahshua is our High Priest, then He is also our Chief Apostle!

THE PARABLE OF THE VINYARD

When Yahshua entered Jerusalem the final time He cleansed the temple of Yahweh by chasing out all who sold the various animals for sacrifice as well as the money changers (Mt. 21:12). Later the elders and chief priests questioned Him concerning whose authority He did those things (v. 22).

The Prophet (messenger/angel) Malachi was inspired to write, “And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith Yahweh of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it. And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith Yahweh of hosts. My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name. The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger (Heb. = malak = angel) of Yahweh of hosts. But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith Yahweh of hosts. Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law,” Mal. 2:1-9.

Therefore, Yahshua spoke a parable to them, “Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. When the master therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. Yahshua saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is Yahweh’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of Elohim shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof,” Mat. 21:33-43.

The servants that were shamefully treated, persecuted and slain were the prophets. The prophets were messengers (malakim/angels) sent to the unfaithful messengers (malakim/angels). The CHIEF MESSENGER of this parable is the Master’s Son! Yahshua is that CHIEF MESSENGER. Therefore Yahshua is the ARCHANGEL, the first in political rank and power, the Chief Prince of beginnings or Ha-Sar Ha-Rishown!

THE SON OF ADAM

The description of the angel who appeared to Daniel was given in chapter ten, verses five and six as reported above. Even though this angel was powerful, to say the least, he had to have help from Michael the archangel to be able to overcome the prince of Persia and continue on his mission to Daniel.

When the appearance of this messenger, this angel weakened Daniel, another figure came to help him receive strength, “And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my master, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. For how can the servant of this my master talk with this my master? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me, And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my master speak; for thou hast strengthened me,” Dan. 10:16-19.

This particular one is said to be like the similitude of the sons of men and like the appearance of a man. The Hebrew term for “sons of men” is beni ha-adam or sons of Adam! He has the appearance of Adam!

Who was Adam made to be like? “And Elohim said, Let us make man (adam) in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth,” Gen. 1:26.

The angel, the messenger told Daniel, “But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince,” Dan. 10:21.

Michael is not only the one who held those things with the angel, but he was the only other one with the angel sent to Daniel. He is the one who was sent to help the messenger get past the prince of Persia. Thus, we must deduct that the one with the messenger who had the appearance of Adam would have been Michael, Daniel’s and Israel’s prince!

We have already explored the name Michael and found that he is not only like El, but most assuredly is El. Now we find that he is like the sons of Adam.

We have also looked at the Scriptures that proclaim that Yahshua is both the son of Elohim and the son of man (Adam).

THE HOST

Who are the hosts? Two realms must be considered. First there is the spiritual realm wherein Yahweh dwells. This realm is revealed to be composed of various angelic beings. All of creation was made by Yahweh, therefore all beings and all things are His. But the fact of the matter is that Yahweh has a great enemy who rebelled against him. That enemy is revealed to be that great dragon, the old serpent called the devil and Satan (Rev. 12:9).

The spiritual realm is generally composed of great angelic beings. They are called the host of heaven. In Scriptural writings, the host of heaven can relate to the angelic beings that are faithful to Yahweh, but they also can be referred to as the sun, moon and stars that are worshipped by mankind who have been led astray into idolatry. Mankind has been deceived by Satan to worship the sun, moon and stars, the host of heaven.

Satan is also an angel/messenger and so many of his followers are also angels/messengers. This has to do with the heavenly realm and the physical realm as well.

Jude warns, “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, unrighteous men, turning the grace of our Elohim into lasciviousness, and denying the only Sovereign Yahweh, and our Sovereign Yahshua the Messiah. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that Yahweh, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day," vv. 4-6.

There were angels (messengers) who kept not their first estate, but left the habitation that Yahweh had prepared for them.

Peter also writes, "For if Yahweh spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the unrighteousness; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live unrighteously; and delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:  (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) Yahweh knoweth how to deliver the pious out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:  but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government.  Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.  Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before Yahweh," 2 Pet. 2:4-11

Therefore, there are two camps of angelic hosts.  There are the angels that sinned whose head and leader is now named Satan the Devil, and there are the righteous angelic hosts whose head and leader is Michael the Archangel.

Then there is the physical realm composed of men, sons of Adam.  There are the sons of Adam who are influenced by Satan and his angelic host of unrighteousness.  The will be championing unrighteousness, sin.  What better way to deceive the masses and influence them into sin that to teach that the law of Yahweh is done away!

CONCLUSION

Michael is most assuredly El.  Michael is one of the Chief Princes (sarim).  Michael is Daniel's/Israel's Prince.  Michael is the Great Prince Who stands for the Children of Israel.  Michael is the Captain/Sar/Prince of the host of Yahweh.  Michael is the Angel of Yahweh.  Michael is the Angel Who redeems Jacob/Israel.  Michael is the Archangel.  Michael is like unto a son of Adam.  Michael is Yahshua the Messiah in the capacity of the Chief Apostle, Chief Messenger, the first, the head in all things.  JH

SHOULD A NEW TESTAMENT BELIEVER OBSERVE

THE SABBATH DAY?

Part III

This is the third and final part in this series…..

PAGAN NAMES SUBSTITUTED

The Father's name became hidden and the name of the Messiah was changed. The name "Jesus" is an Anglicized version of the Latin “Yesus” which, in turn, is taken from the Greek "Iesous" which is the Grecianized version of the Druidic saviour "Yesu" pronounced "Hesus."

Raymond Capt, in his book titled "Stonehenge and Druidism" writes, "It is of interest to note that the Druids revered a form of the cross. It was their custom to search diligently for a large, handsome oak tree, having two large armlike branches. When viewed in conjunction with the trunk of the tree they formed a cross. This "cross" was then consecrated by cutting characters for the word "HESUS," spelled "YESU," upon the right branch. Upon the middle trunk they cut the word "Taranus," upon the left branch, "Belenus," and over them all the word "THAN" meaning G-d." (p.p. 78).

Mr. Capt further reveals in the same book p. 6, "In 1889 Professor A. T. Evans wrote (Archeological Review) that Stonehenge was an advanced representation of sepulchral architecture, 'where the cult or worship of departed ancestors may have become associated with the worship of THE CELTIC ZEUS; THE FORM UNDER WHICH THE DIVINITY WAS WORSHIPPED WOULD HAVE BEEN THAT OF HIS SACRED OAK.'"

Is it just a coincidence that the Celtic word for G-d was "than" the same word in the Hebrew which means sea serpent, monster, a hideous land animal or dragon? Is it just a coincidence that the "sacred oak," the "Celtic Zeus," "Yesu" (pronounced Hesus, the Spanish rendering for Jesus) and "than" are the same thing?  I think not.

Mr. Capt also reveals in his book titled "traditions of Glastonbury," p. 9, "The emblem of Druidism was three golden rays of light, representing the three aspects or persons, of the trinity, emanating from the G-d-head. They were known as "Beli," the Creator as regards the past; "Taran," the controlling providence of the present and "YESU,' THE COMING SAVIOUR OF THE FUTURE. DRUIDISM THUS ANTICIPATED CHR-STIANITY AND POINTED TO THE COMING SAVIOUR UNDER THE VERY NAME BY WHICH CHR-ST WAS CALLED."

Yesu (Latin Yesus), Hesus, Iesous, Jesus is the saviour of the paganistic, heathenistic world. He was already known by the Druids of England, Ireland, Scotland and Western Europe. He was known and anticipated before the true Messiah, Yahshua, ever appeared. What did Yahshua say about this situation? "Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. ALL THAT EVER CAME BEFORE ME ARE THIEVES AND ROBBERS: but the sheep did not hear them," Jn. 10:7-8.

THE MYSTERY OF INIQUITY

Modern day Christianity is the mystery of iniquity that Paul wrote about, "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work;" 2 Thes. 2:7. Iniquity means lawlessness. Christianity teaches that the law of Yahweh is done away, that we are without the law of righteousness, LAWLESS!

Those who proclaimed themselves to be the serpent's seed, progeny or children have raised up this brand of religious worship as prophesied in Genesis and Daniel.

When Yahweh said to the serpent that the woman's Seed would bruise his head He was speaking of the Messiah and how He would overcome Satan. But then Yahweh said that the serpent would bruise the Messiah's heel meaning the latter parts or times or days.

Daniel reveals that the beast of chapter seven makes war with the saints and prevails against them (Dan. 7:21). The little horn of Dan. 7 speaks great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws which are given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time (verse 25).

The little horn of Daniel 8 which would be a continuation of the little horn of Dan. 7 also would cast down the host of heaven, setting up the transgression of desolation treading Yahweh's host and sanctuary under foot (Dan. 8:10, 13).

The mystery of iniquity (lawless-ness) will practice and prosper until the latter days of their kingdom when a king of fierce countenance shall stand up. This king understands dark sentences meaning that he is skilled in dissimulation or hides under false appearances, or puts on a false appearance by concealing facts, intentions or feelings under some false pretense.

His power shall be mighty but not by his own power (Dan. 8:24).  The book of Revelation says that the dragon (the Hebrew would be "tan" or "than"), Satan gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority (13:2).

"And he shall destroy wonderfully," Dan. 8:24. The Hebrew word for "destroy" is "shachath" which means, to decay, i.e. (caus.) ruin (lit. or fig.), corrupt, mar, spoil, destroy, etc. In other words he "corrupts to destruction."

"Wonderfully" is the Hebrew word "papa." It means, to separate, distinguish, to make or be great, difficult, hidden, things too high, marvelous, marvelous things, miracles, make wonderful things, etc. The book of Revelation once again clarifies, "And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, AND DECEIVETH THEM THAT DWELL ON EARTH by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live," Rev. 13:13-14.

SATAN’S POWER

This beast comes in Satan's power or as Paul describes in 2 Thes. 2:9, "Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders."

The word "signs" is the Greek "semaino" coming from "sema" which means; a mark, sign or token. It is equivalent to the Hebrew word "owth" as used in Gen. 1:14 when Elohim said, "Let there be light in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for SIGNS (owth), and for seasons, and for days, and years."

"Lying" in describing wonders is the Greek word "pseudo." It means, a falsehood, lie, lying. Our English word "pseudo" comes from it which means; false, sham, spurious, pretended, counterfeit.

How does the beast of Rev. 13 make fire come down out of heaven? In her book titled "The Wine of Roman Babylon," Mary Walsh writes, "The bread and wine, the consecrated stone, a priest, is all that is needed now, for at any moment it is in his power to CALL THE L-RD OF GLORY WITH HOLY WORDS DOWN UPON THE EARTH, to bless Him with his lips, to hold Him in his hand, to receive Him into his mouth and to distribute Him to the faithful, whilst at the same time the angels stand about him in reverent awe to honour Him Who is sacrificed. 'The power of the priest,' exclaims St. Bernardine of Sienna, 'surpasses the power of the blessed virgin; Mary brought the Son of G-d only once into the world, THE PRIEST CAN DO SO DAILY.' The moment of consecration comes, the priest's head is bowed as the awful words fall from his lips: 'This is My body.' With the swiftness of light, THE L-RD OF HOSTS HAS 'LEAPED DOWN FROM HIS THRONE ON HIGH,' the substance of the bread has gone, and in his hands, which he has striven to render 'holy and undefiled,' the Melchisedek of the new law holds his Creator, Redeemer and Judge. A moment more and by the second words of consecration, 'This is My blood,' the Lamb of G-d lies 'mystically slain,' for the sacrifice of Calvary and the altar are the same.

'MARVELOUS dignity of priests!' exclaims St. Augustine; 'IN THEIR HANDS, AS IN THE WOMB OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY (NOTE: isn't it interesting that the hands of the priest are compared to the genitals of a woman?), the Son of G-d becomes incarnate'....Behold the power of the priest! THE TONGUE OF THE PRIEST MAKES G-D FROM A MORSEL OF BREAD! It is more than creating the world. Someone said, 'Does St. Philomena, then, obey the cure of Ars?' Certainly she may well obey him, SINCE G-D OBEYS HIM. The blessed virgin CANNOT MAKE HER DIVINE SON DESCEND INTO THE HOST. A PRIEST CAN, HOWEVER SIMPLE HE MAY BE." (chapter VI, p. 62, "The Mass".)

What does this have to do with making fire come down from heaven you might ask? Doesn't the book of Hebrews, chapter twelve, verse twenty nine instruct us, "For our Elohim is a CONSUMING FIRE?"

Does not this one brief excerpt reveal that instead of obeying Yahweh's will as the Messiah did, that the priesthood of apostasy seeks to force its will on Yahweh? Does it not also reveal the lying (pseudo, false, counterfeit, sham) wonders as described by Paul?

The mystery of iniquity has been working since the apostle's day. It has deceived all the world, that is, all who have been influenced by the Holy Bible. But do not think for one moment that we have it all figured out.

Daniel warns that the king for whom the abomination that makes desolate is set up (Dan. 11:31) will "....do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every El, and shall speak marvelous things (hidden, secret. He will reveal many marvelous mysteries) against (also can be "as") the El of Elohim, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished (the wrath described in Revelation): for that that is determined shall be done. NEITHER SHALL HE REGARD THE ELOHIM OF HIS FATHERS, nor the desire of women (the desire of women is for a child, a strong saviour child as represented by the Madonna and child), nor regard any Eloah: for he shall magnify himself above all.  But in his estate shall he honour the Elohim of forces: and a Elohim whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. Thus shall he do in the most strongholds with a strange elohim whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land (earth) for gain," Dan. 11:36-39.

THE DECEPTION

Revelation 12:9 reveals that Satan has deceived the whole world. Yahshua warned His followers, "Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, 'I am Messiah;' and shall deceive many....For there shall arise false Messiahs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect," Mt. 24:4-5, 24. The book of Mark also warns, "For false Messiahs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect," Mk. 13:22.

The words "deceive" and "seduce" are "planao" and "apoplanao" respectively. They mean, to roam or stray from safety or truth or virtue or piety by fraudulence, delusion, error, deceit.

One of the keys to understanding what has and will happen is found in the book of Daniel, chapter 5.  Belshazzar, king of Babylon, made a great feast to a thousand of his nobles, and drank wine before the thousand. Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives and concubines, might drink therein. taken out of the temple of the house of Elohim which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines drank in them. They drank wine, and praised the deities of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone (v.v. 1-4).

The vessels of Yahweh's temple were dedicated to His service. They were types of certain things that Yahshua would perform in His ministry, as well as, the true attitude of worship.

Belshazzar took these vessels dedicated to Yahweh and praised the deities of the pagans with them. Yahweh has commanded Israel to not worship Him in the same manner as the heathen worshipped their deities (Dt. 12:29-32; 18:9-14). By the same token, for one to take the things of Yahweh and attribute them to paganistic deities is also an abomination, an abomination which leads to destruction, desolation as happened to Belshazzar (Dan. 5:30).

Such is also what will happen in the last days. The beast, who is also the false (pseudo) Messiah will appropriate some or many of the holy things of Yahweh to his own worship and the worship of his father, Satan.  The false (pseudo) prophet will be a powerful assistant.  Their worship will be a marvelous blend of truth and lies, of the things of Yahweh and the things of paganism.  So marvelous, in fact, that if one doesn't know the truth and keep his eyes focused only on it that he will be deceived.

When the apostle John saw the harlot riding the beast in Rev. 17 he wondered at her with great admiration (v. 6). He was asked by the angel "Wherefore did ye marvel?" (v. 7).

If one of the original apostles of Yahshua wondered with great admiration, one who had the Holy Spirit of truth, One who had lived and walked with Yahshua and witnessed his entire ministry and works being personally taught by Him, then what about those of us who are alive when the beast (false, pseudo messiah) and false (pseudo) prophet come on the scene. They will work mighty works after the power of Satan.

This beast, this false messiah is the dragon, the "tanniyn," the child of the serpent, of Isa. 27:1 and the seed of the serpent of Gen. 3:15.

TEMPTATION

Therefore our prayer to the heavenly Father, Yahweh must be, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil," (Mt. 6:13). The promise to the Philadelphian Assembly is, "Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the HOUR OF TEMPTATION, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth," Rev. 3:10.

The beast of Rev. 17 is described thusly, "The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition (destruction): and they that dwell on the earth SHALL WONDER, whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not and yet is....and the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings ONE HOUR (the hour of temptation) with the beast," Rev. 17:8, 12.

The beast and his worldly empire and powers will be wondrous to be sure.  But there will be no real rest, “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, 'If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of Elohim, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: AND THEY HAVE NO REST day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name," Rev. 14:9-11.

Many, today, are Biblically illiterate and ignorant.  They are already deceived into complacency. Many others who study the scriptures and hold them as important have been deceived into a worship of iniquity, lawlessness. The teaching is that the law is done away.  Sunday, the day of the pagan fire deity is the day of worship. They are taught to worship on the day of fire into which they will be cast if they do not repent.

Many, even more studious, have turned to many of Yahweh's teachings but still cling to paganistic titles and names. They may observe the sabbath and holy days, teach the law, etc. but repentance is not yet complete. Modern day Christianity has followed the pagans by naming the days after pagan deities.  Leviathan has been raised into heavenly places through man's worship.

When the sign of the Son of man appears in heaven, then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn (leviathan also means mourning) and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory (Mt. 24:30. Read also Rev. 6:12-17; Isa. 26:21).

If we are to escape the punishment of disobedience then we must judge ourselves today whether we be in the faith or not (2 Cor. 13:5). Yahweh's word, both Old and New Testaments, must become your guide as to what is right and wrong, good and evil. It must become your simple guide into the truth. Through its direction we can learn to obey instead of disobey. It will teach us to submit ourselves to Yahweh through His Son Yahshua for righteousness' sake. We will repent of our misdeeds, disobedience and deceptions and be delivered from restlessness, sin and destruction into rest (shabath/menuwchah), righteousness, life, truth, light.

We will still work our own works for six days but our rest (shabath) will be Yahweh's commanded rest, the seventh (shebiy'iy/shaba) day sabbath (shabbath). We will no longer engage in naming days to raise Leviathan but raise holy hands in praise to our heavenly Father Yahweh through and by the ONLY NAME under heaven whereby we must be saved, Yahshua Messiah, our rest, our peace, our righteousness, our light our truth.

SUMMARY

Yahweh never named the first six days of the week.  The only day named was the sabbath.  A study into the Hebrew words seven, seventh, rest and sabbath reveal that there is no possibility for any other day of the week to be appointed for the sabbath rest than the seventh day.

The sabbath is a type of the millennial rest, the one thousand years of peace which will be governed by Yahshua and his true followers.  The millennial rest us also referred to as the menuwechah.  Menuwchah is an expansion, a magnification of the sabbath rest.  The sabbath is also a type of Yahshua, Who is our peace, our rest.

Those who name the days stir or raise leviathan.  They turn away from the truth to the deceptive, paganistic, heathenistic worship inspired by Satan the devil.  If not repented of they will be deceived into receiving the name, mark and number of the beast and will suffer the indignation, the wrath of Yahweh.

Should a New Testament believer observe the Sabbath Day?  Absolutely!  JH

COMMENT FROM JERRY HEALAN:

A reminder to those who are observing Passover just to be Torah observant. You are making a serious mistake if that is your only reason for the observance of the Sabbath, the annual holy days, and the Torah in general, if you are not doing so in the service to Yahshua the Messiah.

Paul acknowledges that Yahshua is our Passover sacrificed for us (1 Cor. 5:7).

Yahweh told Israel, “10Hear the word of Yahweh, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law (Torah) of our Elohim, ye people of Gomorrah. 11To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith Yahweh: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. 12When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? 13Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. 14Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. 15And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. 16Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil,” Isa. 1:10-16.

I understand that Yahweh is speaking of disobedient Israel here, but   being Torah observant without Yahshua as your Messiah is simply not good enough. There are many Jews in the world today who seem to be Torah observant, but deny Yahshua the Messiah. Their Torah observance alone simply isn’t good enough.

Again, Paul writes, “Now if any man have not the Spirit of the Messiah, he is none of his,” Ro. 8:9.

However, as Lisa has pointed out, there are many converted brothers and sisters in prison who do not have the freedom to observe these things as we.
